Handyman charged in stabbing, robbery of Grosse Pointe Farms man

A man who was hired to clean gutters and remove snow from an interior designer's home in Grosse Pointe Farms has been charged with trying to kill the man and stealing artwork from his home.

David Corzilius, 49, was charged with three different assault charges, armed robbery, home invasion, false imprisonment, and larceny.

According to the charges filed by prosecutor Kym Worthy, Corzilius was hired by Daniel Clancy to clean gutters and remove snow. On Sunday, authorities say he demanded money crom Clancy, hit him in the face, and then bound his hands with duct tape. Once he was bound, Worthy says he stole painting and then stabbed him in the neck with a knife before driving off in his truck.

Clancy was found bleeding on a sidewalk outside of his home on Voltaire Sunday afternoon. He's currently in the hospital, recovering from his injuries.

"It was pretty clear to those in law enforcement that this brutally violent assault was not random, but the work of someone who knew Mr. Clancy. The alleged actions of the defendant bear this out," Worthy said.
