Head-on collision kills 2 on Telegraph in LaSalle Twp

LASALLE TWP., Mich. (WJBK) - A head-on fatal crash killed two people on Telegraph Monday in LaSalle Township.

The crash, which police say was alcohol related, happened on South Telegraph north of Swartz Road just before 3 p.m. Killed in the collision was Jordan Welsh, 27, of Toledo, Ohio and Jennifer Boran, 40, of Erie, Michigan. 

Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said in a release the driver who caused the crash, 22-year-old Keyanna Austin of Toledo, Ohio is hospitalized in stable condition.

Austin was driving a Dodge Durango southbound and crossed over the center line hitting a Dodge Caravan, carrying Welsh and Boran with two other passengers inside, on the northbound side. After striking the Caravan, the Durango then hit a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, driving south behind the minivan.

Two other passengers were inside the Caravan and were transported to a nearby hospital, with one passenger in critical condition and another in stable. The driver of the Malibu is also listed in stable condition.
