Head-on crash kills 2 on motorcycle in Monroe County
LASALLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - Two people were killed Thursday night in an accident on S. Dixie Highway in Monroe County.
Michigan State Police say the accident happened head-on between a Dodge Neon and a Harley Davidson motorcycle near Kelly Road, which is in LaSalle Township.
Police say the 52-year-old woman driving the car was going southbound when she crossed the centerline and hit the motorcycle head-on. The driver of the motorcycle, 53- year-old David Dittmar from Carleton, and his 45-year-old passenger, Casey Boudrie, were both killed.
Police say the impact of the crash was so severe that the motorcycle immediately caught fire.
The woman in the car wasn't seriously hurt but was taken to a hospital in Toledo. Police say alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Police add that both victims on the motorcycle were wearing helmets.
