Heat advisory through Friday; list of Cooling Centers

Image 1 of 4

A Heat Advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Friday throughout all of southeast Michigan. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s with high humidity and it will get hotter as the weekend continues.

And that's why some Detroiters are getting creative to keep cool. There are cooling centers around the city - in fact; there are 15 public libraries that serve as cooling centers and four recreation centers in Detroit alone. You can get a full list of cooling centers below.

Other options to cool down are to go walk around at a mall, or catch a movie.

Many schools in Detroit are also closing early this week due to the heat. For a full list of school closings, visit www.fox2detroit.com/closings

What if you do sweat too much?  The American Red Cross has some tips: Move victim to cool place, give them something cool to drink, try to cool them down and, if they don't cooperate, call 911 And that's no fun. Best advice stays inside, drink plenty of water and keep cool.
