Heavy snowfall creates ideal snow sport weather

Skiers and snowboarders have been waiting all winter for a snow storm like this, and they couldn't wait to get out on the slopes.

While Pine Knob Ski & Snowboard Resort has made do with the mild weather, with temperatures cold enough to make snow, there's nothing like the real thing to get customers through the doors.

"It's been a strange winter. We had a late start but as soon as Christmas was over we got cold temperatures. We got amazing snow making here, so we barely missed a day since," said Jeff King, Pine Knob supervisor.

The thick, wet snow that Michigan has received will slow riders down just enough to make it a perfect time for kids and beginners to give it a shot.

"I really didn't like it because I could barely even move, but once you get the hang out it, it's actually pretty fun," said Raegan Donaldson, an Oxford resident at Pine Knob.

Although Pine Knob will be home to some higher amounts of snow, between 8 and 13 inches by the morning, many of the hills around Michigan are also getting more than enough to make tomorrow a great day hit the slopes.
