Highland Park reserve officer shot in Detroit

- UPDATE (9 a.m.) - According to the city of Detroit, there is no one in custody for the shooting of 58-year-old Highland Park police reservist Robert Ball. 


An off-duty Highland Park police officer has been shot according to Detroit Police.

The officer, whose name is not being released at this time was attending a block party in the 19000 block of Teppert on the city's east side when he was shot around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

The officer was rushed to St. John Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He currently is in critical but stable condition. 

Sources say it appears that the shooting was of a drive-by type nature. 

At this time police say they're investigating and have no suspect information to release.
