Highland Park street to be renamed honoring Jackie Wilson

(WJBK) - His music influened generations of performers from Elvis to Usher, and his style earned him the name Mr. Excitement.

Jackie Wilson's contributions to music will be honored by his hometown of Highland Park this weekend.

A ceremony is being held on Saturday, August 20 at WHPR TV & Radio. At the ceremony, Cottage Grove Street will be officially become Jackie Wilson Lane.

Local state officials and Motown and R&B Hall of Fame Celebrities will be there to help mark the occasion.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. WHPR TV & Radio is located at 160 Victor Street in Highland Park.
