Nearly 2 years ago, Linda Lhayya was pushing her son in a wheelchair across the street when Gjinaj ran them over at 14 Mile and Ryan Road, then left the scene.

She was killed, and her son who was 15 at the time, Randee, was badly hurt.

Gjinaj's bond had been set at $75,000 cash surety.

The judge said he also had an outstanding warrant for possession of marijuana.

"It's a tragedy and I hope justice is served even though it's still not enough," said Lisa Istefan, a cousin, when FOX 2 spoke with her in 2015. "I hope everyone takes this as a lesson to not drink, drive or do any drugs your mind is not in the right mindset and there are innocent people out there."
