Horse caught on camera in Highland Park needs warm stable

“Because I’m able to ride a horse I’m like, what else can I do?”

Prema Greenwood suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and at one time needed a wheelchair, but thanks to a therapy horse named Cody, Greenwood is walking.

“I personally have had a lot of challenges. I was in a wheelchair, I was paralyzed in my right arm and left arm, but working with Cody helps me to work my arms because I have to brush him.”

Cody's owner provides this treatment to Greenwood and others like her at no cost.

“It's just something that I feel inside.  I want to reach out to help whoever I can,” said Glenn Martin, Cody’s owner.

Fox 2 first introduce you to Cody in October when he caught city folks off guard. He got loose. He left his lot in Highland Park and was seen making his way down a busy city street.

Weeks later Cody is making headlines for a different reason.

The weather is fine for Cody to stay outside overnight now, but as the week's progress Cody will need a warm stable to call home so he can continue providing therapy. That takes money.

Greenwood decided to set up a GoFundMe account to help Cody's owner pay for the costly expense.

She says because Glenn Martin often provides Cody's services at no charge, he misses out on money that could otherwise be used to take care of Cody.

“We're trying to raise at least $3,000 so that he has a place to stay for the winter and we're able to still train with him,” said Greenwood.

Martin says he has his eyes set on the perfect place for Cody that's big enough for his horse to continue providing treatment.

“The indoor arena would allow us to go and train inside, whether it’s rain, snow, and or whatever and continue therapy sessions for those who have an interest,” said Martin.

“You're not handicap you are handi-capable, “ said Greenwood. “So I feel capable and I have hope in knowing that things can change.”
