Hoverboard robbery has happy ending

- The story of a boy who had his hoverboard stolen ended happily when members of the community stepped in to help out.

Two business owners bought a new hoverboard for the young man who had his stolen by a group of men.

"I saw this little boy get pushed off his hoverboard  - it broke my heart,"  said Tammy Berry, who had seen the story FOX 2 aired on Wednesday,

A 16-year-old boy and his 10-year-old brother were robbed while buying candy at the Citgo gas station on Schaefer Highway and McNichols Road. A group of three men knocked them down and stole their hoverboard. The men got away, but were caught on surveillance camera.

"My 10-year-old, I think he knew something was about to happen, but really didn't know what," said Nikita Henderson, the boys' mother.

Berry, the owner of Happy's Pizza on Schaefer Highway, got together with Sam Cherrin, owner of Basan Board at Great Lakes Crossing, and bought the boy a new hoverboard.

"It's amazing how people come forward and help out when something happens," Henderson said.

Their mother brought them to Happy's Pizza, thinking they were just going to get dinner, when the pair presented the boy with the new board.

"I hope this brightens up his day and he feels a lot happier," Berry said.

The three men who stole the hoverboard are still at large, but the owner of the Citgo gas station got the license plate number of their getaway car: DJY0067.

"Thanks everybody," said Landon, the 16-year-old victim, who said he was happy with a new hoverboard.
