I-275 northbound closed from M-14 to I-696 through mid-September

Tuesday morning following rush hour, I-275 northbound closed between M-14 and I-696 and is expected to remain closed for construction through mid-September.

Traffic traveling north on I-275 will be forced off at the I-96/M-14 interchange until construction is complete.

The detour will be eastbound I-96 to northbound M-39 (Southfield Freeway), then westbound M-10 to westbound I-696, on to westbound I-96 or northbound M-5. Signs for the detours will be posted.

The construction is part of a $75 million investment, which will replac 88 lane-miles of concrete pavement on a portion of I-275, including all the ramps on "Mile" roads.

The project also includes shoulder work on I-275, concrete repairs on I-696, and various other road repairs around the area.

The same portion of I-275 southbound was closed from early May and reopened earlier than expected.
