Investigators say Orion Twp man fatally shot wife, then himself

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide where a married couple was found dead inside their home from apparent gunshot wounds.

A husband and wife were found dead Friday at noon by Oakland County Sheriff Deputies at their home on the 3000 block of Kelsey near Lapeer and Adams Roads in Orion Township.

The couple had a loud verbal argument in the home Thursday night.

"It appears as if at some point during that argument he pulled a weapon and shot his wife it appears one time in the chest," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. "She was deceased at the scene. And it appears that he fired a single shot in the head and he was deceased at the scene."

The husband was 57, the wife 56. The couple had been hosting a 17-year-old exchange student from Japan, she was also in the home at the time.

"She heard them arguing and was in a different part of the house, put in earbuds and kind of turned the music up," Bouchard said. "She heard a loud noise but didn't put two and two together. She got up early before anyone else would have been up and left for school."

The wife was a no show at work Friday morning. People concerned called for a welfare check. Oakland County Deputies arrived around noon and the exchange student had just returned home from school.

Investigators say it's clear from the evidence at the scene that the husband pulled the trigger killing both his wife and then himself and no one else was involved.
