Judge Gorcyca denies motion to be removed Tsimhoni case

The judge who sentenced a trio of metro Detroit children to a juvenile facility for not eating lunch with her father denied a motion to be removed from the case on Monday.

Judge Lisa Gorcyca filed her decision Monday morning in the custody dispute between Maya Tsimhoni and her husband, Oscar. Miya's attorney asked Gorcyca to be removed from the case, citing favoritism towards Oscar and that the judge's actions in July harmed the children.

She announced in the 8:30 a.m. filing that she was denying the motion from the attorney. In her ruling, she said Miya did not prove Gorcyca was biased.

Judge Gorcyca made headlines across the world when she ordered the children to juvenile detention facility when they refused a court order to have lunch with their father in July. She ordered the children, ages 14, 10, and 9, to Children's Village until they turn 18. She then sent them to a summer camp and counseling at a cost of more than $30,000, which the parents paid for.

In August, she granted temporary custody to the children's father.
