Law enforcement officials meeting to strategize reducing crime

Leaders and law enforcement officials from across the nation met Monday morning in efforts to strategize about how to reduce violence in our communities.

Top cops from 10 different cities are participating in the three-day Second Annual Violence Reduction Network Summit.

"We dont' always know why violence descends on some communities but no others, but we do know that many of the neighborhoods hardest hit by violence are also grappling with other social ills, like poverty and unemployment and a widespread lack of opportunity," said Sally Quilliam Yates from the Department of Justice. Their goal at the summit is to figure out the sociological issues that lead to violence in neighborhoods and try to solve it.
