Lincoln Park teen killed in crash remembered at vigil

WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WJBK) - Hugs, tears and candles are shared in this crowd of more than 100. A community remembering Adam Cross.

The popular Lincoln Park 17 year-old, was killed in a crash Monday night on Nov 28.

Adam's parents were deeply moved by the show of support.

"I just have no words for all the love that people had for my son," said his mother Shawnee Cross. "It's just amazing."

Adam was alone in the backseat of a Honda Civic riding with two friends.

A car stopped suddenly in front of them on Dix-Toledo near Goddard Road. When Adam's driver jammed the brakes, the Honda motor died.

A wrecker that was unable to stop, rear-ended the three boys. Adam died at the hospital, the other two teens suffered minor injuries.

"Thinking about not hearing his voice -- not only as a father and an uncle or anybody, it's going to be real tough," said Jeremy Adam Cross, his father. "And thanks for everybody coming out here."

Adam was an organ donor and his sister announced at the vigil here at the Wyandotte Skate Park that Adam's heart was actually scheduled for transplant surgery on the same night as the vigil.

"Once they're well enough, we want them to contact us and tell us who they are and find out who we are," sister Amanda Calvillo said. "So we can tell them all about Adam."
