Multiple injuries in apartment fire near Rouge Park Golf Course (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Three firefighters and two civilians were injured in the apartment fire, according to a city of Detroit official.

Two firefighters were injured when part of a roof collapsed on them, the extent of their injuries is unknown.

One of the civilians who was injured was in the unit believed to be where the fire originated. 

Firefighters are on the scene of the large apartment fire on the the city's west side near Rouge River Golf Course.

The started around 2:20 Tuesday afternoon on Outer Drive and Rockdale in Detroit. The fire billowed thick black smoke that could be seen from miles away.

The fire was at a two-alarm stage just a few minutes after it started.

FOX 2 has confirmed at least one person is injured and more emergency units are on the way.
