Lockdown lifted at Macomb Community College after armed man search

The lockdown has been lifted at Macomb College after a search for an armed man came up empty.

At about 6 p.m. a report of a man armed with a long gun near the wooded area at Center Campus. No shots were fired, but the campus was on lockdown with police setting up roadblocks and searching the grounds with helicopters and with canine units.

Shortly after 9 p.m. the lockdown was lifted as police did not find the suspect, described as a white male with gray hair wearing camouflage clothing.

The campus will remain closed for the rest of the evening, according to school police. Classes will resume Wednesday as scheduled.
