A domestic situation puts a Redford Township neighborhood on lockdown.

People in the area woke up to alerts on their phones after police say a man stabbed his wife.

Gwendolyn, 24, says that she and her 52-year-old husband are abusive to each other. Then on Friday night, she asked him for a divorce.

"I don't know but I'm abusive too," she said.

FOX 2: "Did you start it?"

"No," she said.

She says she was shoved through the front door, and then her husband picked up some glass, stabbing her in the arm and torso. She was treated at the hospital.

"With my back turned we attacked each other, I guess he got the better half.

The two had only been married a month and a half.

FOX 2: "How long were you dating before that?"

"Five years," she said.

Neighbors say they never noticed any trouble at the house in the past. Then they heard the commotion just after midnight.

Redford Township police were called to the scene and believed the man was still inside the house on Winston.

They shut down the neighborhood, and sent out alerts. After about 11 hours, they raided the house using robots and tear gas, only to find it had been empty the whole time.

The man they thought was inside was believed to be possibly armed with a gun.

Gwendolyn says she will follow through with a divorce as soon as she can.

"I've got a 7 year old son, he's not about to watch anybody beat on his mama," Gwendolyn said. "And I don't want him to be around a man who I don't want him to grow up to be."
