Lost 5-year old boy rescued in Sleeping Bear Dunes

A 5-year-old boy who went missing in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Friday has been found.

The boy had been reported missing in the park for more than an hour. The Coast Guard received a request to help local agencies in finding the boy around 6:30 pm. 

The aircrew launched about 8:30 p.m. and arrived overhead at the park within ten minutes to commence searching. At about 9:15 p.m., the helicopter crew located the missing boy. 

A rescue swimmer was lowered to remain with him until first responders from the Glen Lake Fire Department could be directed to the location by the helicopter pilots. 

The fire department reunited the boy with his parents in good condition.
