ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) - Mail bomb suspect Cesar Sayoc may have ties to the Detroit area with an address in Allen Park.
FOX 2 found one neighbor who was around at the time Sayoc may have been here. He remembers a woman and her two sons living at the address tied to Sayoc - and later a body builder.
Every angle and every possible part of Sayoc’s life is now under a microscope.
“It was said to be around 1980 when he was here and that's when I was born - it’s definitely shocking and it’s scary," said Raniah Elmoussali.
Just the idea that a man who terrorized the nation - sending rudimentary bombs to prominent democrats last week - could have at one time lived next door is shocking.
“You don’t think that something like that is going to be like right next door," said Elmoussali.
Our records search reveals no fewer than 19 addresses listed for 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc, including some in New York and where he would eventually be caught, in Florida.
But there’s a whole lot else there as well- many brushes with the law - charges for traffic violations, theft and here making bomb threats in 2002.
"I think we are fortunate that no one's been hurt or killed," said US Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D). "But I have great confidence in our law enforcement officials."
The reason investigators suspect Sayoc went on what’s been dubbed a “mail bombing campaign” was politics.
FOX 2's search shows Sayoc was registered as a Republican. His white van was plastered in political bumper stickers supporting president trump and bashing Democrats and CNN.
Local Democrats wasted no time condemning what Sayoc is accused of and what they see as a toxic political climate.
"God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason, let's listen to each other a little more," said US Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Dearborn). "And remember that violence is never the answer."
