A crime spree over a period of 4 months and the man allegedly behind the crimes admitted he did something stupid.

Mohamed Abdi was arrested for nine armed robberies but when St. Clair Shores police took him into custody he told one of the officers he "did what he did to feed his twins."

According to a criminal complaint, Abdi's crimes date back to June, allegedly robbing CVS stores, Rite Aid stores and one Dollar store in Eastpointe, St. Clair Shores, Warren, Allen Park, Lincoln Park and Wayne.

In his latest alleged crime he stole about $500 dollars

Abdi told authorities he would demand cash from the cashier and if the person hesitated he would show them his gun that was concealed in his waistband.

He told police he got the gun when he was working at a gas station in Detroit, saying two men got into a fight inside, a gun fell out of one their waistbands and ended up underneath a shelf. Both men took off and Abdi picked up the gun and kept it.

His excuse isn't sitting well with people.

"I think it's a lame excuse, but it would get some people behind him, but not me," said Korey Stover, St. Clair Shores resident. "There's people who go work 12 hours a day and bring home nothing and feed their kids.”

"He could have gone to the state for help, churches," said Jennifer Stover. "A lot of other ways he could have found to feed his family besides robbing people. I had my daughter at 18 and I've never robbed anybody."
