Man charged after attack on Detroit EMTs

The Detroit man who police say viciously attacked two EMTs this week has officially been charged in the attack just one day after being charged with rape and murder for two other previous crimes. However, police say there are even more victims coming forward.

Michael Montgomery, 30, was charged Thursday with seven counts including assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to maim for stabbing two detroit first responders early Tuesday. Kelly Adams was slashed across her face and Alfredo Rojas was stabbed in the hand and cut across his right eye.

When Montgomery was arrested, his DNA was tested and police say he's connected with several other crimes and announced charges on Wednesday of criminal sexual conduct, felony firearm, kidnapping and torture. Those charges are for the 2005 rape of a then 23-year-old woman in an alley behind the Edison Public Library.

He was also arraigned Wednesday for the violent sexual assault and murder of 16-year-old Dantoya White back in January of 2006.

"She didn't even get to start her life. It hurts so bad. (I've) been going through this for so long," Dantoya's uncle, Emanuel White, said on Thursday.

Police say Montgomery brutally raped and stabbed the teen as she was leaving the same library. For almost a decade, her murder went unsolved. Now, police say they have their man.

"Every morning I wake up and pray that they catch him Lord, send a sign. Let us know who is, where they at why," White said.

Montgomery apologized when he was arrested but Dantoya's uncle says he doesn't buy what he calls a hollow apology.

"No, there ain't no sorry. (If you were sorry) you wouldn't have ever done it. It just hurts so bad. It's just a shame and he probably did more people than that, they just gotta come forward. This isn't nothing he just started, he might have been doing this from a teenager on up," White said.

Montgomery is due back in court next week on all three of these cases.
