A man has been charged with murder after his backpage.com date was found dead in an alleyway this summer.

Authorities say Jerome Moore, 26, met Cynthia Worthy, 23, on the social media site on August 15, and that he lured Cynthia to his house and killed her. Cynthia's body was found two days later in an alley in the 4000 block of Davidson in Detroit. She had died of a single stab wound.

Moore was arrested about a week later. He was charged with first-degree murder Thursday. He is due back in court on October 22.

FOX 2 spoke with Cynthia's family shortly after her death. They told us Cynthia would find work on the known escort website, where she went by the name Lady. Her family said they were aware of her choice and that she was working to get away from that lifestyle.

"We finally convinced her to stop and she enrolled in school and has been on track," her father, Shawn Willis, told us. "She told me she is about to stop, 'I can't do this anymore.'"

Cynthia and her car were missing after the date. Her sister works for OnStar, and so her family was able to track the vehicle to Oak Park, which is where authorities say Moore is from.
