BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - The man who police say tried to abduct multiple women in one day last week has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
David Cayton, 54, was arrested Friday when he turned himself into the Bloomfield Township Police Department.
The attempted abductions all happened on Thursday, February 11 near Square Lake Road and Woodward ave.
Police say that afternoon, a 20-year-old woman was parking her car near a Qdoba at the intersection when a man, driving a red van, forced open her door and asked her if she wanted to make $100,000.
When she refused, police say he then tried to pull her from her car. She was able to get away and police say the woman ran into the restaurant getting help from the manager. The man drove off.
After that incident only a few minutes later, police say the man walked back into the Qdoba and tried luring another woman. She refused, then he left in his red van.
That second incident was caught on surveillance as police pointed out the suspect. The woman has not yet come forward.
Since then police say a third woman has reported being approached by the same man. But says she didn't feel threatened.
Cayton turned himself in on Friday. A passenger in the van with him at the time of the attempted abductions was released without charges. Police say alcohol played a factor in the incidents.
