Man crossing the street with a cane killed by hit-and-run driver

Authorities are investigating after a man was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Detroit's west side early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of Boston Boulevard and Linwood Street.

We're told the victim is 66-year-old Larry Hart, and that he was crossing the street with his cane when he was hit. He had just left the gas station, according to his fiance, and was likely heading home when the accident happened.

His fiance did not want to talk on camera and says they're still in the process of notifying other family members.

Neighbors say Hart was well-liked.

If you were in the area at the time of the accident or know anything about what happened, you're asked to contact the Detroit Police Department.
