A source with the Detroit Police Department said Tuesday that a man was found dead and was partially decapitated.

The discovery was made by the homeowner on Tuesday in the 2700 block of South Deacon Street.

"To see somebody killed this man and cut his head off. This world is coming to an end and I get so sick and tired of seeing that," Rev. Devonte Sherard said.

The man, who friends and family say was in his 60s, recently became homeless and given a place to stay by his friend - the homeowner. The source says the man appeared to be involved in a struggle with an unknown person and police are investigating it as a homicide.

Sgt. Cassandra Lewis would not go into detail about the man's death.

"I'm not going to go into the details of his injuries at this time" Sgt. Cassandra Lewis said.

But friends and family members said that the man's throat was slashed and he suffered a deep laceration. Many can't get a grip as to what really happened.

"Whoever did it just come forward so the family could have some peace. He was a good person, a family man and everything. We're just trying to get some closure," a vitim's relative said.

And some say this neighborhood, and this house in particular, is known for drug activity, something the cops will check out.

"As far as any police activity, we will do a work up to see if we can derive what actually happened."

Detroit police are looking for anyone that has any information about this crime to call Detroit police.

The victim's identification has not been revealed.
