Man gunned down on Detroit's East Side

Detroit Police are in the early stages of their investigation into who shot and killed a 40-year-old man, and why.

Neighbors tell FOX 2 they heard about 5 gun shots around 6:30 Saturday evening at a home on the 5400 block of Holcomb near the corner of Chapin.

"When I pulled up, I didn't see any car down there whatsoever," said Mikeshia Wright. "I went in the house, and not even five minutes I'd been in the house five shots were fired off. I flew to the ground. My stepdad was working on my car actually. I ran to the window to see if he was okay."

When investigators arrived, they found a 40-year-man who had been shot dead on the sidewalk. Police officers on scene spent the evening searching a car where the victim had been lying next to, and combing the area for evidence.

"I'm always concerned about the violence," said a neighbor. "And it's a situation that happens too frequently unfortunately."

Right now, police don't have much on this case. They are urging the public tto help. If you have any information about who is responsible, give Detroit Police a call.
