Man in custody for threatening ex's family: 'I'm putting this dynamite under your pillow b----'

A metro Detroit man is in custody after he made threats to blow up the house of his ex-wife's family, according to a federal criminal complaint.

The complaint states a woman contacted Eastpointe police after she received a threatening text message from her daughter's ex-husband.

A series of texts said, according to authorities: "you [sic] your grandmother and your daughter are going to die"; "Your grand kids [sic] too"; and "I'm putting this dynamite under your pillow b----." Authorities say the man also sent pictures of what appeared to be a pipe bomb.

Authorities identified the ex-husband as Billy Street, and say his 10-year-old daughter that he had with his ex-wife was staying with the woman who received the texts.

Authorities learned he had a flight on November 3 from Detroit to Myrtle Beach, and met and arrested him at the airport.

The complaint states that during the booking process, Street made general statements in reference to explosives. Authorities say Street told them he was dealing with explosives but it had nothing to do with the airport. Authorities say Street stated that the explosives were "for the city and one person in particular."

When Eastpointe police began speaking with Street, he told them he was with his ex-wife in South Carolina, and that she left him for another man a few days ago. Authorities say he started talking about the ex-wife and the other man and got angry, and requested an attorney so police stopped questioning him.

Street voluntarily then told police "something was happening tonight" and he needed to make a call or "something's going to happen." Street said that houses were going to "get blown" and asked authorities to get "his daughter out of the house" before it happened.

Street is accused of making threats to kill, injure and intimidate an individual and to damage and destroy a building or real property by means of an explosive.
