At 27 years old, Jimmy Andromalos was the oldest of three boys.

"He just had the best smile. He lit up the room," said Colleen Lucia, his aunt. "He loved to laugh; he loved music; he loved his brothers. His family meant the world to him."

And it’s clear that he meant a lot to his family as well, as both a father figure and friend to his younger brothers.

"He would play video games with them, take them out to the movies," Lucia said. "He was there for my sister."

Jimmy was raised by a single mom, who is left to burden a loss unimaginable.

"My sister is in shock," Lucia said. "The boys have had a rough go of it as well."

Jimmy was killed at Jefferson and Roselawn in Chesterfield Township around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the 35-year-old man who hit Jimmy never saw him, as he walked along the shoulder of the road heading north to The New Green Street Tavern.

According to his family, the whole reason Jimmy was even out there was to make sure his girlfriend got home safe. She works at a tavern three and a half miles down the road and, with his car in the shop, he decided to walk.

"He thought he would be nice and meet her at her work so she wouldn't have to walk home alone," Lucia said.

Police and witnesses say he died instantly. His girlfriend and others put together a roadside memorial in his honor. His mother however, could use a little help creating a lasting way to honor her son's memory.

"Financial struggles are something I wish she doesn't have to deal with on top of the unbelievable happening," Lucia said.

Family friends have created a GoFundMe account to help her pay for funeral and burial costs. If you'd like to make a donation to the family, you can do so here

"Everyone always says what can I do," Lucia said. "In this situation, this is what you can do. This is why we are reaching out and please help her."

Police say they continue to investigate the death, adding the driver who hit and killed Jimmy stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police. The driver did not appear to speeding or under the influence at the time crash.
