A 37-year-old man was killed in a horrific hit-and-run accident in Clinton Township.

Police are still looking for at least one of the drivers involved in the crash where the victim was hit twice by a pair of cars. Investigators are working to find the first car that hit him and ran.

Joseph Harold Perry was walking across four lanes of traffic on Garfield, between 17 and 18 mile, just after 2 a.m. Thursday, when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver, fled, then a second vehicle hit him.

"He was dressed in dark clothes and it was a very dark area," said Lt. Anthony Greene of Clinton Township police. "That second vehicle stopped. The woman got out, called 911. A third vehicle came along and blocked the roadway until the police got there."

Friends and family of a man hit and killed by an SUV, don't know what he was doing crossing the road, in the middle of the road.

Police are following a few leads, including examining remnants of the first car that fled the scene, hoping to get a better description of the vehicle.

"The vehicle we are looking for is either a sedan or an SUV," Greene said. "And it should have passenger side front end damage, and it should have some damage to the windshield."

Perry lived right off Garfield where he was killed. He shared an apartment with his twin brother.

"I'm going to go scour the neighborhood now and canvas the area to see if anyone has any information," Greene said.
