Man killed in own driveway after dropping wife, daughter off after grocery shopping

Detroit police are investigating a deadly shooting on the city's west side after a 31-year-old man was found dead in his driveway.

Kenneth Wynn II had just pulled into his family home on Manor on the city's west side. He and his family were about to unload groceries when, with his family inside, he was murdered in his own driveway.

"I said well that's kinda close and then I heard a young lady hollering and screaming," neighbor James Hill said.

It was around 6:30 Thursday night when Wynn's wife said they had just pulled in. She and her daughter went inside while Wynn went to get the groceries out of the car. Then gunshots filled the silence.

"I get in the shower and about three minutes later I hear boom boom boom. I'm like what the hell was that," neighbor James Hill said.

Wynn's wife also heard the shot and ran outside while telling her daughter to call 911. In the driveway, she found the car door hanging open and her husband lying face down and bleeding. It was just seconds later but the shooter was long gone.

Wynn's wife tried to give CPR but he was shot in the arm and chest with one bullet through his jaw. He died in his own driveway in his wife's arms.

"I got out of the shower and come to the door and see her husband laying there and see he'd been shot," Hill said. "You could hear the screaming and it was quite upsetting."

Wynn's wife is a long-time FOX 2 employee. His death has hit his family and neighborhood hard. Neighbors say the couple are pleasant, good neighbors.

"It's strange because nothing nothing like this goes on around here. They're nice, quiet people," another neighbor said.

Wynn's wife says it doesn't appear anything was taken from her husband. Detroit police are still trying to determine a motive but have only shell casings as evidence.
