Man opens fire on a crowd of people, killing Ecorse woman
ECORSE, Mich. (WJBK) - An innocent bystander was killed over the weekend after someone opens fire on a street in Ecorse.
FOX 2 is told Sherri Love was in the wrong place at the wrong time and she isn't the only victim.
"For her to be gunned down like this - that is the most hurting thing," said Lynette Love, the victim's cousin.
Rachell Davis and Lynnette Love are mourning the loss of Sherri Love, their aunt and cousin - a real spitfire.
She was an innocent bystander gunned down about 2:45 a.m. Sunday on Eighth Street in Ecorse.
Sherri Love was killed and two of her relatives were hurt. Young men - ages 18 and 23, a 20-year-old woman from Detroit was also hurt when someone opened fire on a crowd of people through this fence Sunday morning.
Sherri is being remembered as funny and unpredictable, she called herself the number one tweet-tweet girl.
"We should not have to live like this," said Rose Greeley, the victim's aunt. "You can't come out here and you can't even enjoy ourselves without somebody getting hurt. They gunned down four innocent people."
On May 26 another man from this neighborhood was also killed, 26-year-old Antonio Hicks - a father of three - gunned down after a disagreement with a man in nearby River Rouge.
"I just want justice for my son because this young man is still walking around here," Greeley said. "Still doing things he's not supposed to do and I had to bury my son. This is my son, Antonio Myron Hicks and I just want justice for him."
Still no arrests in that case, although police have identified a suspect - now looking to see if the two shootings are related.
Relatives of those lost - with a message.
"It is not the projects, it's the people," said Love. "Come together as one - put the guns down."
