Man pepper sprayed by employee during armed robbery of Troy restaurant

Kenneth Travier, 61, was arrested and accused of trying to rob a Troy restaurant.

Police in Troy arrested a man they say tried to rob a restaurant with a shotgun Sunday night.

Troy Police said they arrested Kenneth Travier, 61, Sunday night at Kona Grill no Big Beaver Road. According to police, an employee called to report the robbery in progress and that the man had fired a shot during the robbery.

Police said the employees were closing down for the night when a masked man tried to push his way into the office. The employee fought him off and pepper sprayed him before closing the door.

After being pushed out, the suspect fired the shotgun through the door as employees called 911.

When police arrived, they found the suspect they've identified as Travier, a Detroit resident, and say he was running on foot from the scene.

Nobody was injured in the shotgun blast.

Travier was arraigned Monday for armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a felony. He was denied bond.
