DETROIT (WJBK) - Investigators are looking for a killer after a man was shot on Detroit's west side and collapsed on a neighbor's door while trying to get help.
"Scared to open the door," said Train Sancranian.
Sancranian says around 2 a.m. Tuesday a man was banging on his door, yelling that he had been shot.
"My wife over there asleep, sounded like boom, boom, boom," he said.
Sancranian, a 79-year-old Romanian-American living in the U.S. for more than two decades and now retired, refused to open the door. He lives in the 6200 block of Penrod in Detroit on the Detroit-Dearborn border.
"I call the police, police come back," he aid.
EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Sancraian says he has no idea who the man was or how he ended up on his doorstep. The victim hit a railing on his stairs, then fell into the flower bed.
Sancraian says he feels horrible that the man died, but says he didn't feel safe opening his door.
"I'm scared, (I'm an) old man. I'm scared," he said.
