A man is shot to death after coming to the aid of a friend outside a popular Detroit night spot.

Lorna Braden said life will never be the same after her son and father of two was shot and killed outside the Tippin Inn Lounge last month.

"That's the love of my life," Braden said. "This is my only child and he meant the world to me. I feel empty. I feel lost. I'm hurt. I want my child back."

Police say Demetrius Hunt was involved in a fight inside the lounge that spilled outside and onto Mt. Elliot. Hunt rushed to help a friend who was sucker-punched and left on the street.

That's when police say a man who never went inside of the club, walked over to Hunt and started shooting at him.

"There was a truck that pulled up, one of the individuals in that truck was armed with a weapon," said Det. Jeb Rutledge. "He got involved in the fight and fired some shots at Demetrius, shooting him at least three times and killing him."

Before the shooting took place police say the man they believe to be the shooter, was caught on video near a silver sport utility vehicle. Investigators say they are looking for him and the driver of the vehicle.

"The investigation now is identifying the folks associated with that truck and not with the victim," Rutledge said.

The family of Demetrius Hunt says they want justice and they are pleading with anyone who has information about this murder case to contact police

"It's horrible for someone to get shot that many times over a fight," Braden said. "I'm just lost."
