A man was found shot to death inside a car at E. State Fair and Coventry on Detroit's east side Monday morning.

The car was found crashed into a building at 8:30 a.m. and inside the older model Cadillac, a man behind the driver's seat - shot in the head.

"And it looks like what they've discovered so far is that maybe the shooter was inside the vehicle when the incident occurred," said Dep. Chief David LaValley, Detroit police. "That would be an indicator to me that the victim and the suspect were acquainted some way or another."

Investigators are working to identify the victim and towing the vehicle into evidence.

They say it appears the car travelled a short distance after the driver was shot, ending up in the grass near the brick building.

"I don't think he was driving," LaValley said. "I think maybe his foot hit the gas and he went down the street and crashed."
