Man suspected of trying to rape woman jogging in Hines Park

The Livonia Police Department has released a sketch of a man suspected of trying to rape a woman while she was jogging in Edward Hikes Park.

The woman reported the incident to police on Sunday, September 4. Police say the 28-year-old was jogging on the bike path when she came across a man walking on the other side of the path.

As she ran by him, he wrapped his arms around her neck and hit her on the side of her face.

Police say he then struggled with the victim and attempted to drag her toward the Rouge River. He also tried to remove her clothing and told her that he wanted to have sex with her.

The woman was able to fight the man off and he ran away.

Police say the suspect is a black man in his late 20s that is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs about 180 lbs. He's said to have a muscular build and has short, dark hair and was clean shaved.

He was wearing a tight fitting black or gray compression style shirt and dark colored cargo shorts.
