Man's body found at playground of Plymouth school

Just before hundreds of students arrived at a Plymouth elementary school Monday, police were at the school where a man was found dead on the school's playground.

Plymouth Police said the man was found at 8:20 Monday morning, just before students and parents were due to arrive at Smith Elementary.

According to Chief A.L. Cox, a teacher was looking out a window when the body was spotted. At first, staff believed the man was just laying on the ground. The principal went out to check on him and discovered he wasn't moving.

They immediately called 911 and police arrived. They searched the area and said there is no sign of foul play and don't believe there is a danger to the community.

Police have not identified the man in his early 40s but said he is from the area.

Chief Cox said the school did a great job and kept children away from the scene as they investigated.
