Man's body found in wooded area behind his house

Police are investigating after a young man's body was found behind his home on Detroit's east side.

Police say family members hadn't seen the 26-year-old for several days so they started searching for him. He was found in a wooded area in the backyard of his home, which is in the 5,700 block of Garland Street.

Police say it appears some sort of struggle took place in the home, and that the man jumped from a second story window to get away. He was shot several times.

Police are going door-to-door talking to neighbors in the area asking if they've seen or heard anything suspicious in the past few days. His home is in a neighborhood near Interstate 94 and Gratiot Avenue.

If you know anything that could help police with their investigation, you're asked to contact the Detroit Police Department.

Police didn't immediately release the victim's name.
