A local Marine out of the state while serving our country, had his beloved SUV stolen.

Katie Allen can't wait to see her boyfriend, 22-year-old Matt Canfield who is a Marine, stationed in Florida. He is scheduled to be home this Christmas.

"He is one of the best people that I know," she said.

But one thing missing from the homecoming - his prized possession, a maroon 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS, for Super Sport.

Matt's sister had driven the truck to work Friday in the area of 10 Mile and Evergreen  in Southfield. When she came out at about 2 p.m. it was gone.

"We started putting out all sorts of posts on Facebook and reaching out to people to try to help us find it," Allen said.

The family has been waging a Facebook campaign to let anybody and everybody know they're looking for the truck. It doesn't say Trailblazer anywhere on it, it just says SS. The Chevy logo on the front is black in color and there is sticker of a black cross in a red heart inside a circle on the windshield on the driver's side.

This car is Matt's pride and joy.

"He's put a lot of work into it and a lot of finishing touches and personal touches to the car over the years,"  Allen said.

FOX 2: "So is it kind of like this is his baby?

"It is," Allen said. "It is very much his baby."

A baby this family is trying to get back in time for this Marine to get home for Christmas.

"He's serving our country, it's such a big thing," Allen said. "It's important that he has his car with him because it just doesn't seem fair that he comes home and the one thing that he puts his time into and his effort - it's just gone."

Anyone with information on the car, please call Southfield police at (248) 796-5000.
