McDonald's customers react to employee's cruel prank

A homeless man thought he was about to get free food. Instead he received a face full of water when a McDonald's drive-thru employee threw a drink at him.

It happened at McDonald's on Grand River at Schaefer three days ago where a homeless man named Willie was humiliated in front of some customers. Now, thousands more on the Internet have seen the video that's gone viral.

Needless to say, he wasn't loving it.

FOX 2 showed the incident, captured in a video posted to LiveLeak, to a few McDonald's customers. They were, understandably, disgusted.

"Are you serious?" said Corey Moore. "And that's this one right here? That guy should be fired."

But there may be more to this story. The man who recorded the video told LiveLeak that Willie was arguing with a customer earlier that day. And the worker coaxed him over with food and then doused him with water as payback. But does that justify what happened?

"No it doesn't justify it," said Moore. "As a matter of fact it's almost criminal what he did."

Moore's response was overwhelmingly the same on FOX 2's Facebook page. Click here to read those.

Delores Gaddy, another McDonald's customer, had a similar reaction.

"No two wrongs don't make a right no matter what," said Gaddy, who added that she wasn't sure if the clerk should be fired. "That was between him and management. He defintely needs some customer training. That's just not right what he did."

And apparently the owner agrees. Franchisee Wise Finley provided this statement to FOX 2:

"I am very disturbed by the inappropriate behavior of this employee. This type of behavior is not tolerated in my organization. I expect my employees to treat everyone with dignity and respect and this was unacceptable. I am taking appropriate action with respect to this individual."

On Tuesday, Finley told FOX 2 the employee in the video had been fired for his actions.

It is unclear what action will be taken. FOX 2 was unable to contact Willie for comment.
