Meijer rolling out grocery home deliveries

Shopping at Meijer has just gotten easier. So easy, you don't even have to leave your house.

Meijer has joined forces with the app Shipt to bring customers home delivery service.

Starting today, Meijer customers located in the metro Detroit area can sign up for the Shipt smartphone app to have purchases conveniently delivered right to their homes.

Once you have the app, you can shop thousands of grocery items and some health, beauty and baby items, too. You will be able to select the items from your closest Meijer and then pick a one-hour delivery window that you want them delivered.

"This is about giving our customers the gift of time," says Art Sebastian, the Director of Digital Shopping. You can learn more about the new service from him in the video player above.

Shipt delivers seven days a week and may offer 24-hour service dependent on the store location and hours.

What comes easy doesn't come free, though.

Shipt does cost money, and you can pay either an annual or a monthly fee.

For $99 a year, Shipt members receive unlimited free grocery deliveries on all orders over $35. Customers who subscribe to Shipt prior to the September launch date will also receive $25 off their first delivery.

You can learn more or sign up at www.shipt.com/Detroit.

Shipt is also hiring shoppers, too. You can get more information on that here
