Two men were arrested in connection with the theft of a safe from the Hockey Sports Academy, after FOX 2 viewers called tips into Clinton Township Police.

Captain Richard Maierle said that thanks to a tip from a FOX 2 viewer, the second suspect was arrested early Sunday morning at a hotel in the area of 14 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

He added that the first suspect was also arrested after a tip from a FOX 2 viewer. That suspect was arrested Saturday.

The two men seen in the surveillance pictures are the men police arrested in connection with a stolen safe

No one was working in the front office when it happened so they thought it was an easy rip off ---little did they know they were being watched.

Take a good look at these two men captured on tape. Surveillance cameras inside the Hockey Sports Academy in Clinton Township were rolling as one of the men rummaged through the office while the other kept lookout.

Moments later the man in the office walks out with a safe and he hands it off to his partner in crime  who appears to wipe their prints off of the cash box, and they walk out the door.

FOX 2: "How bad do you want to check those guys who came in here and ripped off your safe?"

"I definitely want to get them on skates, that's for sure," said Jasen Barber.

Barber owns the sports academy. He says the theft happened late Friday morning while he and other workers were training hockey players. The men may have gotten away with about $200.

"My manager realized that they walked off with the safe when he went to go put funds from a client in there and he realized the safe was gone," he said. "And the men who stole it were long gone by then."

Jasen says he never imagined this would happen let alone in the middle of the day, but lesson learned. He says they'll keep an employee up front at all times from here on out.

"I hope it doesn't really set us back," he said. "There are a lot of good people that come in here. The hockey community is very small and we have a lot of good people. Here are tons of good things that happen (but) we never thought we'd had to deal with this and we're hoping we can catch these guys and put them away and move forward."

Now if you recognize those men please call Clinton Township police at (586) 493-7800.
