Michigan girl, 4, wrapped in blankets, duct taped in bed for weeks before death

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WJBK) - A mother and her fiance were charged Tuesday in Kalamazoo after her daughter died in their home. According to police, the girl was wrapped in duct tape and blankets in the weeks before her death.

Kelly Ballinger and Matthew Longenecker were both charged Tuesday with murder and child abuse in the death of the four-year-old girl.

Police were called to Kalamazoo home around 5:00 Sunday monring. The report that police had was that a girl was not breathing. When first responders showed up, they tried to revive the girl but those efforts not successful.

According to FOX 17, police say the girl's body was bruised from prior mistreatment. Police said the girl had been restrained at night over the past couple of weeks by wrapping the girl in blankets and then duct taping her numerous times.

Both adults are facing life in prison, if convicted.
