Michigan governor orders flags flown at half staff for Texas victims

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has ordered flags in Michigan to be flown at half-staff to honor the shooting victims of the church shooting in Texas.

Gov. Snyder joined President Trump in honoring the victims of the shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, by lowering the United States and Michigan flags to half-staff through Thursday November 9.

Flags flown at all state buildings and withing the state Capitol complex will be lowered to honor the victims of the mass shooting that Snyder called 'sinister'.

“I am joining President Trump's call to honor the victims of the Sutherland Springs shooting that took the lives of more than 25 innocent people,” Snyder said. “This sinister act of violence that occurred in a place of worship is both heartbreaking and appalling. The people and state of Michigan stand in support of Texas and offer our prayers to the victims, their families and loved ones.”

Flags will be flown at half staff through Thursday night and should return to full-staff by sunset that day.

As he left, the shooter was confronted by an armed resident who "grabbed his rifle and engaged that suspect," Martin said. A short time later, the suspect was found dead in his vehicle at the county line.

He's since been identified as Devin Patrick Kelly.
