Microsoft moving to downtown Detroit

It's official -- Microsoft is moving to downtown Detroit.

Bedrock CEO Jim Ketai made the announcement at One Campus Martius Friday morning alongside of founding partner Dan Gilbert and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. Ketai says the news won't stop there, and he's looking forward to announcing more Detroit tenants in the future.

Microsoft has had offices in Southfield for the past 30 years.

The Microsoft Tech Center, which is one of 40 in the world, will take up more than 40,000 square feet in Bedrock's One Campus Martius. Gilbert says the move will displace some Quicken Loans employees for awhile. He also said at the news conference he believes Detroit will be one of the tech capitals in the world in the next 10-15 years.

Amazon recently introduced a corporate office in Detroit.

The Microsoft Tech Center will be used to bring together resources for customers.
