A missing 3-year-old boy in Detroit who was the subject of an AMBER Alert Thursday has been found safe, Detroit police tell FOX 2.

Marvie Gardner went missing from his home around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. We were told he was found safe just before 2 p.m.

The boy was found in a vacant home in the 19500 block of Biltmore, which is a few miles away from where he was taken.

Police believe the boy was taken by a 19-year-old man named Michael Grayson. Police say Grayson was not with the boy at the abandoned home, but police found Grayson a short while later on a DDOT bus and have taken him into custody

Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody says the boy is in good spirits and will be checked out medically as a precaution before being reunited with his mother.

Police say the boy's mother, Latoya Spears, invited some friends over Wednesday night, which included Gardner and his girlfriend. While they were hanging out, Gardner and his girlfriend began to argue prompting the girlfriend to leave with their child, which upset Gardner.

Spears was able to calm Gardner down and said he could stay the night, but when she woke up around 5:30 a.m. she says her son was gone and that she found a note that said, "I want my child and will call back with instructions."

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 2 for updates.
