On Nov. 29, Detroit was announced one of four finalists competing for two expansion team slots, along with Cincinnati, Nashville and Sacramento.
The cities were scheduled to make formal presentations Wednesday in New York for MLS Commissioner Don Garber and the expansion committee.
Detroit Pistons and Founder Tom Gores and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert are leading the city's bid. The Ford family announced their additional support, offering Ford Field as a venue, back in early November.
The four cities were among 12 that submitted bids for expansion slots in January, the others being Charlotte, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis, San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa/St. Petersburg.
