The mom of a toddler who was found decomposing in a Detroit apartment earlier this year has been charged with murder in the little boy's death.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged the mother of 3-year-old Aaron Minor with murder in the death of her son. Deanna Shanta Minor, 28, was charged Wednesday morning with murder in her son's death.

Aaron's body was found inside an apartment on Trumbull in Detroit on May 25.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled last week that the toddler’s death was a homicide, but despite an autopsy and toxicology tests, the cause of death was inconclusive.

Shortly after Aaron's body was found, his mother was located in a psychiatric ward at a nearby hospital.

Minor is being charged with murder, second degree murder, child abuse, and failure to report a dead body. She'll be arraigned in court on Thursday.

We’re told Deanna is mentally ill and suffers from depression.

The father of her other children told FOX 2's Taryn Asher last week that child protective services removed his children from their mother’s home back in 2014 and they’ve been living with him ever since.

At the time, he couldn’t afford to take Aaron, who has a different father who is currently incarcerated.

Deanna’s relatives say social services was working with her at the time of the boy’s death. Whether Deanna is still being treated at a psychiatric hospital is still unclear.
