Mystery solved! The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality stepped in after some neighbors in Harrison Township were confused about what fell from the sky and coated their properties.

MDEQ tested the sample and says -- it's bird scat. The sample was made up of leaves, seeds and fruit skins.

One neighbor told FOX 2's Amy Lange he originally thought it was bird droppings, but after he started scraping it that it just didn't seem to fit the bill. Some thought it was some type of oil, especially since they live just two miles from the Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Harrison Township Fire even came out to investigate but could not determine what it was, either.
